Canaria Tex Bathrobes

When it comes to bathrobe manufacturing, Canaria Tex have standards to follow to produce comfort and durability in bathrobe textiles. Client’s specifications and required qualities are considered very important at our production unit. While the expectations might differ slightly between hotels and home use, bathrobes should meet high standards of softness, absorbency, and overall quality to ensure the best experience.

In both hotels and home use, bathrobes should offer the perfect combination of softness, absorbency, durability, and comfort. Hotels typically prioritize uniformity, easy maintenance, and guest experience, while home bathrobes can vary more in style and material based on personal preferences. When purchasing a bathrobe, whether for a hotel or home, consider the fabric type, GSM, absorbency, fit, design, and ease of care to select the right one that aligns with your needs and comfort expectations.

Below are the international standards and qualities for bathrobe Fabrics:

Terrycloth: Terrycloth is the most commonly used fabric for bathrobes, especially in hotels. It’s highly absorbent, soft, and breathable. This is typically made from 100% cotton.

Waffle Weave: This weave offers a lightweight texture and is often used in luxury hotel bathrobes. The waffle design adds absorbency without being too thick.

Blended Fabrics: Fabrics such as cotton-polyester blends, may be used for bathrobes to increase durability and reduce cost, though they may not be as absorbent as 100% cotton bathrobes.

Microfiber: Some bathrobes are made from microfiber, which is extremely soft and light, but not as absorbent as cotton.

Bathrobe weight, absorbency and durability

    • Lightweight Bathrobes (200-300 GSM): Typically used for warmer climates or in hotels where quick-drying is a priority. These robes are not overly heavy and dry quickly after use.
    • Medium Weight Bathrobes (350-450 GSM): The standard weight for bathrobes used both at home and in hotels. They provide a balance of comfort and absorbency.
    • Heavyweight Bathrobes (500+ GSM): These are highly absorbent and feel luxurious. They are often used in colder climates or in luxury hotels where guests expect the ultimate plush experience.

  • Cotton Bathrobes: Cotton, particularly terry cloth, is highly absorbent, which is ideal after a bath or shower. The fibres in cotton can absorb moisture efficiently.
  • Quality Standards: The bathrobe’s absorbency is influenced by both the fabric type and the GSM. High-GSM bathrobes are generally more absorbent due to their thicker fibres.
  • Hotel Standards: In hotels, durability is essential. Bathrobes must be able to withstand frequent washing and cleaning. This means choosing fabrics that are colour fast and can maintain softness over multiple washes. Cotton bathrobes that are combed or ring-spun tend to be stronger and more durable.
  • Home Use: For home use, while durability is important, it is not as critical as it is for hotel bathrobes. Home bathrobes may have a slightly lower GSM or be made from more delicate fabrics like velour.

Standards, features and options

  • Hotel Standards:
    • Hotel bathrobes need to be easy to care for and maintain. They should hold up well after multiple wash cycles. Towels and robes in hotels often undergo industrial washing, which requires fabrics that won’t shrink or lose quality quickly.
    • Quick-drying properties are also important in hotels since bathrobes are cleaned in high-volume laundering operations.
  • Home Use:
    • For home bathrobes, care instructions are important as well. Many prefer bathrobes that can be machine-washed and dried. However, robes made of delicate fabrics like velour may require special care (e.g., air drying, gentle cycles).

  • Hooded Bathrobes: Some bathrobes, particularly those made for colder climates or home use, include hoods for extra warmth.
  • Pockets: Pockets are a common feature in both hotel and home bathrobes, offering a place to store personal items like keys or phones.
  • Unisex and Gender-Specific Styles: Bathrobes can be unisex (common in hotels) or designed specifically for men or women, with different cuts and styles for each.
  • Classic Styles: Hotels tend to use classic designs, such as kimono-style bathrobes or shawl collars, as they are simple yet elegant. They typically have a belt, pockets, and are knee-length or full-length.
  • Branding and Logo: Hotels often incorporate their logo into the bathrobe, usually embroidered on the chest or sleeve. Branding helps add a luxurious, personalized touch.
  • Neutral Colors: White or beige is common in hotels, as it communicates cleanliness and simplicity, while also making laundry and maintenance easier.
